  3. Well, after a week or so of playing with the code, here is the first in what
  4. will be a long line of updates!

  6. The latest version of QuickBBs can be FREQ'd from here by requesting Q_BETA
  7. from 90:100/112 or 2:250/326 or by downloading it from the QuickBBs-ST

  17. Not that many visual changes (well, one actually) but here goes...

  19. 1:   QBBS now has a 'Binkley' format logfile - I know at least 2 of us wanted
  20.      it to do that!

  22. 2:   I have tightened the code up quite a bit - this *MAY* have caused some
  23.      bugs to appear, so I will release this version so you all can play with
  24.      it, and if you break any bits, please tell me ASAP!

  27. ** the lines of code out, rather than deleting them! But once they have gone

  35. At least two of you SysOp's have sent me a wish-list - here is a list of
  36. suggestions. PLEASE give me some feedback, along with the WHAT's, WHY's,
  37. etc.. of the changed/enhancements I should make!

  42. 1.  allow change of node number without needing a new key
  43. 2.  split it up a little.  i.e. the "change settings" could be made as a 
  44.     small separate program with its own menu, the "chat with sysop" also
  45.     made separate.
  46. 3.  allow the use of samles/modules instead of the ST yelltunes.
  47. 4.  make qbbs switchable to a future command mode if the user wants that.
  48. 5.  remove the menu optimizer.  It is only usable at <9600 baud and those 
  49.     modems are history today.
  50. 6.  make qbbs recognize up to 38400 baud modems, now it stops at 19200.
  51. 7.  faster mailscan. (what's taking all the time?)

  56. 1:  I really would like to see a new option in the Msglineeditor.
  57. 2:  Quote to Netmail!!!! This is really needed in advertismentareas!!!
  58.     (And others to!!!)
  59. 3:  If a user uploads a file, QBBS will search the archive for a FILE_ID.DIZ
  60.     or a $$$.UPL These two descriptionfiles is standard on all PC boards.
  61.     If QBBS finds a description file..It will insert it into FILES.BBS
  62.     and the user doesnt have to write an ugly description that often is wrong.
  63.     Even better is if QBBS finds a File_Id.diz in the archive it will
  64.     ASK the user if he want to use the file or enter an own description!!!
  65. 4:  I also want a new FASTPACK update.. The old one is slow as a goat ;)
  66.     It takes 30 minutes to repack 300 areas.. 2 times a day.. 8-)
  67. 5:  And cant you do something about the mailscan... It is horrible!! ;)
  68.     (Slow i mean) And if you run like me.. With a large amount of old
  69.     RLL drives..its even worse ;)

  76. 2:  Add another DORINFO1.DEF format for doors. The current format is QBBS,
  77.     most door games use the FoReM format and you need to use the DORCONV
  78.     utility to change it.
  79. 3:  Same as the above, but for the FOREM.DAT file. If any of you have the
  80.     Dungeon's of Moria online, you need the FOREMDAT.FIX proggie. Does anyone
  81.     have the format of this file (the fixed one, that is!!)
  82. 4:  Modularise QBBS - Seperate proggie for MSGS, FILEAREAS, QWK, etc..
  83. 5:  Convert it into C or Assembler!
  84. 6:  Faster mailscan (working on that now!)
